 Sigh.......

I have a need to write today and searching for a little inspiration, I discovered that my inspiration today is that I have no inspiration today. But the need to write tugs at me. So here I sit. Staring at this computer screen on a rainy Saturday afternoon hoping something will appear out of the rambling. I am finding nothing but rambling.

I started this blog because I wanted to put all those ideas and little day to day incidentals that happen around me onto "paper". I have been telling myself and procrastinating for years about writing and starting this blog. I want my life to have meaning, for people to know, even anonymously, that I am here. My life has been touched by the authors of all the blogs that I have read, some faithfully, and I hope that someone somewhere will find what I have to write about a little interesting. I am not known for following a project through to its completion (a little of my parents' bad habits instilled in me), but I am determined to continue this blog.

Yes, by now you have noticed, I am having a little Pity Party today.

Writing is therapeutic. That and eating, but eating makes me fat and writing has no calories. I know those of you reading this blog really don't want to read depressing stuff by a depressing author, and for that I truly apologize. But as I said, the need to write tugs at me.

 I Know This Guy......

First a little background information...

I have an acquaintance, a doctor, middle 50's, "married", grown children, unhappy and ever searching for happiness in a variety of distractions, hobbies, golf, tennis, etc. He met and hooked up with a much younger young lady when he returned to his country of birth on one of his frequent visits. He took to her completely, and after much traveling back and forth, brought her to NY for a "visit". She stayed for a few months, returned home and eventually after a while, returned for another "visit" and stayed. She eventually began to work at his medical practice as a receptionist. All blissful and happy was our doctor. Then she became pregnant. The balance of power has shifted.

Now I am not much of a poet, but I do on occasion attempt a little inspired poetic story telling. I do not feel comfortable showing my writing attempts to anyone, with the exception of my father, who was a frustrated and incredibly talented writer in his own right. But alas, he passed away several years ago. So please dear readers, bear with me, as I have not had any true critiques from anyone in a few years. Be gentle.

 Today......

Walking back to work from Dunkin Donuts this afternoon I noticed this gentleman seemingly marching to his own drummer. Thing is he was also singing at the top of his lungs to that drummer and marching up the middle of Jamaica Avenue causing oncoming traffic to cross the double yellow lines to avoid him. Ah yes, Spring is in the air....

Later this evening after a little overtime, driving home, a bit tired, I got caught up in a little traffic jam in Queens Village. A four maybe five alarm fire put a stop to traffic temporarily, while NYC's Bravest tended to the business of saving lives and property. Thankfully no one was injured. For the NYFD it was just business as usual. I don't know about anyone else, I can never figure out how many firetrucks means how many alarms, but there were more than ten trucks, 50 or so firefighters, a few ambulances, etc. (sorry for the poor photo...)

 All You Need Is Love......

Love

 Joy

Bliss

Wonder

Song

Everyday our lives are filled with ups and downs. But the people we encounter and the life we see playing out in front of us each day, makes life interesting. Joy is where we find it, and no matter what happens to us in our everyday lives, it is the people around us, the strangers and friends, that we touch and who touch us that make life joyful. Look around at everday life as it unfolds around you and you will see how fascinating ordinary life can be. No two days will ever be exactly alike and it is a Blessing that we can feel secure in that knowledge. Embrace each day and try to find the ups rather than the 'downs'. 'Cause when the 'downs' come, the 'ups' are what gets you through.
